Wellpath reference

Some field in this table are calculated according to input in other columns.  For example TVD Shoe is calculated from MD Shoe and MD Planned is calculated from TVD Planned.  For these calculations, survey and wellplan data are required, so that the a reference to a wellpath (containing this data) must be provided.

Casing lookup

All casing data may be input manually, but by clicking the ellipsis button [...] in the Nominal OD column the casing may be selected from a lookup table.  Note that it is also possible to add custom data for casing not listed in the standard provided data.  As the lookup tables are shared amongst all Softdrill NL programs (e.g. Torque & Drag), it may be useful to add such data.

Selecting a casing from the lookup tables, will automatically fill in all other columns (which may still be changed afterwards).

MD Shoe

As casing is normally set on a Measured Depth, the TVD for the shoe is calculated from the survey data in the reference wellpath.

TVD Planned

Casing depth is typically planned on a specific TVD as the MD may change, depending on the actual well trajectory.  Therefore MD Planned is calculated from the wellplan data in the reference wellpath.

Shoe test

This field may be edited by clicking the ellipsis button [...].  It provides a means to input data on the shoe test performed.  The Equivalent Mud Weight for the test is displayed.  The type of test (Formation Integrity Test or Leak Off Test) is indicated by an F or L in brackets.  If no data is provided for this field (e.g. blank), 'No Test' will be displayed to provide a visual indication that no test was performed.  See below for more details on the input form for the test.

Casing shoe test

When clicking the ellipsis button [...] in the Test (EMW) column of the casing grid, the following dialog box will appear.

Test type

Select the test type performed.  This can either be a Leak Off Test (LOT) or a Formation Integrity Test (FIT).

TVD Shoe

Total Vertical Depth of the casing shoe (not the well) for which the test was performed.

Mud weight

Mud weight in use during the test.

Test data

Test data may be input as either a surface pressure applied or an equivalent mud weight (the result).  Click one of the radio buttons to select the input data and the other value will be calculated.

After clicking OK, the data will automatically be displayed in the correct format in the casing grid.
