The Advantage Database Server (ADS) is available in two editions:

1.Local edition

2.Client/Server edition

The Local version is a freely available version that is installed with WellRep by default.  It simply consists of several DLL files that allow WellRep to work with the database dictionary and tables.  No further installation or setup is required.  A database may be placed on a network location and can be shared with maximum 5 simultaneous users.  However, transactions are not available with this edition.

The Client/Server edition is a separate installation that may be installed on the same computer WellRep is installed on but also on a separate computer (server) in the network.  The maximum amount of simultaneous users working in the database is only limited by the number of ‘Client Access Licenses’ (CAL’s) purchased with the Advantage Database Server software, which is a separate purchase from WellRep.  CAL’s are available in 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, … bundles.
