After starting Softdrill NL Torque & Drag, you will be presented with the following screen. The Torque & Drag program is a so-called Multiple Document Interface (MDI) application. This means that multiple Torque & Drag calculations may be open simultaneously.
The image below shows the main form with large tool bar buttons. Button display may be toggled between large and small through the [Utility] - [Large buttons] option in the main menu.
Main Menu |
All Torque & Drag functionality is available through the main menu. Note that some functionality will apply to the currently selected Torque & Drag calculation (not all open calculations). Some functionality is also accessible through the toolbar buttons described below. |

New file from template |
Start a new Torque & Drag calculation from a previously saved template file. This will start a new calculation that is populated with data contained in the template file. This is useful when a particular model is very common. Note that an existing Torque & Drag calculation model can be saved as a template through the [File] - [Save as template...] option in the main menu. |
Open file |
Open an existing Torque & Drag calculation model from file. Note that this button has a drop-down arrow. If the drop-down arrow is clicked, a list with recently used files is dropped down for quick selection. |
Save file as... |
Save the current Torque & Drag model. Prior to saving, the program will prompt where to save the file and with which file name.
Save file |
Saves the current Torque & Drag model without prompting for a location or file name. This assumes the model was previously saved to file or opened from an existing file. If this was not the case, the program will prompt for a location and file name (i.e. functionality is the same as 'Save file as...').
